"Starred in baseball and football in the University of Mississippi before entering the professional ranks. Came up to Detroit in 1931 from the Evansville Club in the 3 I League, where he had batted .378 in 84 games. He was sent to Toronto that year, but was recalled and has been with the Tigers ever since. Last year he batted .280 in 127 games. Walker is an outfielder. He is right-handed, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He was born in Gulfport, Miss. in 1909."



Known as the greatest center in the history of the game of Basketball, Ed Wachter has been active in this sport for over thirty years. Wachter was born in Troy, New York, and as soon as he was big enough, began playing on teams with his brother, Louis, another famous Basketball player. The game was actively played in the New York State and the Hudson River Leagues near his home, and before the World War, Ed was starring for many years in these leagues. He later became Basketball Coach at Harvard University, and turned out many winning teams during his ten year stay at Cambridge. He had also been a star Oarsman in his youth, and was a real Sports King in the sculls. He also coached in sculling while at Harvard.



The one-time bonus baby has never pitched an inning of minor league ball. Sandy has been with the Dodgers since 1955, finally coming of age last season. In 1959 Sandy tied a record held by Bob Feller, as he struck out 18 batters in a game. He has a blinding fast ball.
