Mac reached the big leagues in 1972 without ever starting a game in the minors. A relief specialist, he gained valuable experience in a pressure spot last August 1st in 15th inning of game vs. Mets. With the score tied, runners on 1st & 2nd and one out, Mac entered the game. He proceeded to fan Willie Mays and Dave Schneck to end the inning, then was lifted for a pinch-hitter.

Bob Johnson, the "Cherokee Indian," is one of the most consistent hitters in the American League. For the past four years he has managed to drive in more than 100 runs each year. His 6-year major-league record shows 984 hits in 873 games, and a life-time batting average of .301.
