Eddie saw a little action with the Cards and Reds in '52 and gets his first crack at AL ball in '53. 1940 was his first year in pro ball. He had a League Leading .378 mark for Albany, (Ga.) in '41 and moved up steadily through the Cards' farm system. The Redbirds called him up at the end of the '48 season after Eddie posted a .309 mark for Rochester. In his rookie season in the NL, Eddie hit .304 and was named on the National League All-Star team.

Some collectors assume the name and team printed at the bottom of the 1909 T206 Set cards is in black ink but it is actually dark brown.

Hit .304 in 155 games for 1949 Tigers. Vic's 185 hits included 26 doubles, 6 triples and 20 homers. He batted in 133 runs, third high in the league. Vic was a combination pitcher-outfielder for Buffalo during part of 1943. Then he entered the service. Back with Buffalo in 1946, he hit .301. Joined the Tigers in 1947 and hit .288.
