The husky backstop is recognized as one of the great fielding catchers of all time. He is also a powerful hitter as his Home Run record will attest. "Campy" was up among the League's batting leaders during the 1st part of the '52 campaign but injuries slowed him up. He finished 2nd on the Dodgers in HR's and RBI's in '52. In '51 he hit .325, slammed 33 HR's and was the Most Valuable Player in the National League. Roy was on every All-Star team since '49.



Another one of last year's rookies the Cubs are counting on to lift them out of the cellar. Won only four games and lost 13, but showed good curve and fine fast ball. Fanned 89 batters and finished with an earned-run average of 4.83.
