Willard hit .254 for 47 games for the Sox in 1954. He's a veteran National Leaguer, and was for many years one of the Giants' best and most popular players. He began in baseball in 1940 and came to the majors in 1942. He spent the next years in service, then returned in 1946. He was involved in a big trade with the Boston Braves in December 1949, then went to the Redlegs in June 1952, and from there to the American League. He's a slugger, and was always near the top in home runs and runs batted in.

With his ability to share grounders in the hole and make strong throws to first, Bocock is a highly valued shortstop in the Giants system. On offense, he held a .526 OBP over his first five ML games in 2008.
