Who led the A.L. in runs scored for the most consecutive years?
View AnswerCoffee Talk Name that player!
People call Honus Wagner the greatest shortstop who ever handled a ball. They are far from wrong. A big, bow-legged player who covered an amazing amount of ground. Wagner's major league record - 21 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates - is really sensational. He holds more batting records than any one in the National League. He averaged 329 for 21 years, getting 3420 hits, leading the league in batting eight years and hitting .300 or better 17 consecutive seasons. He led the league in doubles eight years and holds the league mark for total two-baggers, 651, and three-baggers with 252. He also led the league in stolen bases five years, another tribute to his versatility.
