Name that player!

One of the more promising outfielders in the league, Mel has a good chance of nailing down a regular spot in the Phillies' outer patrol. In 1951 with Schenectady Mel led outfielders in fielding with a percentage of .988. His 29 doubles tied him for the league lead in that department, and he hit .294. His first two years, 1947 and 1948, saw him with identical batting marks, .347.

Matt went on some wicked streaks in 2012. One in which he went 33-for-64 (.516 AVG) included a 15-game hitting spree. In another, he reached base in 34 straight starts.

Dolph Camilli, one of the hardest hitters in the National League, started his baseball career with San Francisco in 1926. He was purchased by the Chicago Cubs in 1933 as a replacement for the aging Charlie Grimm. The following year he was transferred to the Philadelphia Phils and was their regular first baseman until the start of the 1928 season, when he was traded to the Brooklyn Dodgers for Eddie Morgan, and a reported cash price of $45,000. Last year, with the Dodgers, he got 128 hits in 146 games. He drove in 100 runs, scoring 106 runs himself, for a batting average of .251. His 6-year major-league record shows that he has gotten 759 hits in 754 games, for a batting average of .284.
