Monte Pearson, already in Baseball's Hall of Fame as a result of a no-hit, no-run game he pitched against the Cleveland Indians in 1938. He further glorified his record by pitching a two-hit shutout for the Yankees against the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series, last year. Pearson is one of the game's great right-handers, and possesses what the experts call one of the best curve balls in the American League. Monte was troubled by a lame arm last year, but it didn't prevent him from winning 12, dropping only 5, and hurling that brilliant World Series game - his fourth Series triumph for the Yanks against no defeats. Added to his pitching. Pearson is also one of the best hitters among the moundsmen. He batted .321 last year. This is Monte's eighth year in the majors.

In the American League in '52, Eddie was tied for third in Hits and Doubles and tied for second in Runs Batted In. The big first Sacker has been a professional ball player since '39. He got his 1st Big League trial in '42 with Cleveland. Coming out of the service in '46, he hit .318 at Baltimore and came up to Cleveland. He was traded to the Senators in '48 and joined the White Sox in '50. In January 1953, Ed was traded to the A's.

Matt's 2023 season of mashing hit one of its many high points on June 30, as he went 4-for-5 with two homers, a triple, four runs scored and five RBI to lead the Braves to a 16-4 victory over Miami. Olson clubbed two-run bombs in the first and fifth innings.. In the bottom of the third, he legged out his third career three-bagger with a rope to right.
