In 67 games in 1950. Hit .227. A good fielding backstop. Averaged .995 behind the plate. Made 1 error in 222 total chances. In 74 games in 1949. Batted .238. With 7 different clubs in 6 years in the minors. Came to the majors in 1940 with the St. Louis Browns. Stayed with them until June 1942. Traded at that time to the Philadelphia Athletics. Traded to Detroit Tigers end of 1943.



In his 1st season of pro ball after 4 years in the Marine Corps, Bob won 19 and lost 10 and led the Kitty League with 361 Strikeouts for Fulton in '46. One of his wins was a no-hitter. He won 15 for Greenville in '47 and 11 for Memphis in '48. With Nashville in '50, Bob had a 25 and 6 record, Struck Out 202 and was named the League's Most Valuable Player. The Cubs gave him a trial in '51.



Although his surgically-repaired knee required periods of rest in 2022, Ronald returned from his injury of July '21 with his wheels still whirring. He was the first player since Albert Pujols in 2009-10 to lead his League in fan votes for the MLB All-Star Game. On August 5, Acuña became the 13th man with at least 500 hits, 100 homers and 100 steals before turning 25.
