Name that player!

"Frick" had the best Earned Run Average on the A's staff in '53, his first full Big League season. He came up to the A's at the end of '52, after posting a 17-8 mark for Ottawa and leading the International League with a 2.26 ERA. A former Dodger farmhand, Marion started with Johnstown in '47 and in 1950-51 won 15 and 10 for Mobile.

Johnny, who spent '51 and '52 in the Service, has never played for a Minor League ball club. He was signed right out of High School by the Braves for a $65,000 bonus and joined the NL club upon graduation in '48. Johnny pitched in 4 games that year and had no decisions. He posted records of 3-7 in '49 and 2-3 in '50. Johnny returns from the Service in '53. He is one of the brightest pitching prospects the Braves have had in a number of years.

THE BEST PITCHER I'VE EVER SEEN by Chet Nichols. To me, one of the greatest pitchers in baseball today is my own team mate Warren Spahn. His unbelievable won and lost record is far superior to that of any pitcher in both leagues today. He has won more than 20 games for six seasons. His earned run average has been great, and his strike out record has surpassed any pitcher in the National League. I certainly hope Warren has six more years left like those in the past.
