Name that player!

There's an old saying "like father, like son"... Hal is the second generation of Laniers in the majors. Hal's father, Max, was a former major league pitcher. Hal is developing into one of the game's best second sackers. A sure-handed fielder, he makes the double play look easy.

One of the leading pitchers of the International League is Warren (Curley) Ogden a right hander. Last year, pitching for the Royals he won 11 games and lost 13 for a team which finished fourth. Ogden spent several seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics, going direct from Swarthmore College, where he had starred in the box. Besides starring with Swarthmore, Ogden also pitched for a semi-pro team managed by Frank Baker, former Philadelphia Athletic star. He is a brother of Jack Ogden of the Baltimore Club; was born in Ogden, Pa. January 24, 1901. 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 180 pounds.

Joe broke his '52 World Series Jinx in '53 with a Homer against Brooklyn in the first game. Coming to the Yanks in '49 after hitting .319 and belting 20 homers for Kansas City, Joe shifted between the outfield and 1st Base until '52. In '51 he hit .286 and in '52 he poled 18 homers while batting .280. Joe has been in pro ball since 1939.
