"Fritz", as a relief pitcher, was 4th in the American League in Games Finished with 20, and had his best earned run average since he's been in the League. His pro career started at Canton (Mid-Atlantic League) in '41. He was brought up by the Red Sox in '47, went to Birmingham in '48, Louisville in '49 and was sold to the Browns in '50. 2 days after he was released to Toronto, the White Sox drafted him. Harry spent the '43, '44 and '45 seasons in the Armed Forces.



The Tigers obtained Ned from the Browns during the '52 season after Ned turned in some outstanding pitching for the Brownies. He was the 1st Al pitcher since 1924 to win 20 games for a last place club... and his 20 wins were 38% of the team's total victories. In '50, he tied for the AL lead in Complete Games and his 3.39 ERA was 2nd best in the League. Ned broke in with a 21-8 record in '44 with Newark of the Ohio State League and came up to the AL in '48.



Obtained from Atlanta, Clay found the Reds' bullpen to his liking. The fireman was credited with 11 "saves" in 1968.
