Big Don led the major leagues last season in victories, strikeouts, innings pitched and games started. His 41 starts tied the Dodger club record set in 1904, and his innings pitched were the most by a Dodger hurler since 1934. Don's 4-year total of 902 strikeouts set a new N.L. record, breaking Christy Mathewson's mark of 847 in 1902-03-04-05. He did not allow a home run in his last 10 starts and 75 innings in 1962.

Cass was with three teams in 1952, Washington, St. Louis Browns and the Athletics. He was in 22 games for the Senators, 55 for St. Louis and a like number for the Athletics. For the total of 132 games he hit .252, driving in 50 runs. He began in baseball in 1943 with the White Sox. Remained until traded to Washington in 1950. Led American League second sackers in double plays in 1949.
