Many of the images used on cards in the 1909 T206 Set were also used in other baseball card sets.



Jim Ripple, one of the heaviest hitters of the New York Giants; started his baseball career with the Jeanette team in 1929. In 1930 he moved on to Montreal and played with them until the end of the 1935 season. While with Montreal, Ripple failed to hit .300 or above only twice. He started his major-league career with the New York Giants in 1936, and on the strength of his batting, the Giants were able to come from fifth place in the National League race to win the pennant. In 1937 and 1938 Jim was the regular outfielder for the New York Giants, getting 135 hits, in 1937, and 131 hits in 1938. He has taken part in two World Series, batting .333 in the 1936 Series. His 3-year major-league average shows that he has played in 351 games, hitting 361 hits for a major-league batting average of .291.



A knee injury curtailed playing time for Tony in 1972. He's a 3-time AL Batting Champ, led loop in Hits, 1964-66 & 1969-70.
