Davey was the best fielding second baseman in the National League in 1954. He got in 142 games for the Giants at second, and his fielding average was a good .982. He made only 14 errors in 763 total chances, and he participated in 112 double plays. Davey batted .222, and his 121 hits were good for a total of 172 bases. He had 18 doubles, 3 triples and 9 homers and he batted in 46 runs, while scoring 65. He began in 1947. With the Giants briefly at the end of the 1949 season, he came to them to stay at the end of the 1951 season.
