Maple Leafs Card of the Day

Robert "Bobby" Hassard
Came to the Toronto club a year ago from Pittsburgh where he was a leading scorer. Gave a tremendous account of himself as a newcomer with only 4 of his team-mates ahead of him on total points and tied Leaf captain Kennedy for leading in assists with 23 to his credit.

Name that player!

A first-team All-Star berth was won by Tim last season, at 38 years-of-age. Horton has 95 career goals and played his 1,000th NHL game (all with Toronto) last season. Tim has a blistering slap shot and is a key man on the Leaf's power play.

Small in stature, Dave plays hockey with an "all-out" effort, often compared to Henri Richard of the Canadiens. The N.H.L. honoured Dave after Stanley Cup Finals by awarding him the Conn Smythe Trophy for being the most valuable player in the entire playoffs.

Last amateur club: Toronto Marlboros (Jrs.). Also played for Windsor Spitfires & Barrie Flyers. Starred for cup-winning Guelph Biltmores whom he joined for playoffs last year. Completing the tremendous jump from junior to top pro ranks as a Leaf regular this season.

Back to the Front! Maple Leafs card back du jour...

Tim Horton
Timmy got off to a slow start last season but he regained his top form in the closing weeks of the campaign, only to suffer a leg and jaw fracture when body-checked by Bill Godsby of New York in a game in Toronto, He spent the best part of the summer in a walking cast. Tim is a rough rear-guard who oozes colour and his end-to-end-rushes lift the fans right out of their seats.
