Carl had played with the Cardinals before joining the Detroit club in '59. One of the game's most feared linemen, Carl is a menace to opposing passers. He's great in diagnosing a play.
The Lions gave up Milt Plum, Pat Studstill and Tom Watkins to acquire this quarterback. The ex-Ram completed 27 passes in a 1965 game, the top mark by an L.A. quarterback in 14 years. Bill is strong-armed and accurate.
An elusive end, Jim was the top pass-catcher for the champion Lions last season. One of his catches went all the way for a 65-yard TD. He can either buttonhook back for a quick pass or flare out long for payoff pitches.
