Lions Card of the Day

Bobby Layne
Bobby was well on his way to another superb season in 1957, when he had a leg broken at the end of the campaign. The injury forced him out of the Lions' final contests. Still, he helped get them in a contending position all season.

Name that player!

After recovering from a knee injury, Gail went on to grab 47 passes for 411 yards in '66 for a career total of 301 grabs and a Lion career record. He now has 4857 yards gained on receptions, many more than any other Lion receiver.

Reggie had one of the best workouts of any player at the Scouting Combine as he ran the 40 in 4.47, displayed a 33-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot broad jump. With those stats, he will fit in perfect ly as a speed pass rusher and cover man for the Lions' aggressive defense. Extremely active, Reggie also excels against the run.

Detroit was 4th in the Western Conference in '63, with 5-8-1. They were 4th in '64, too, with 7-5-2. In '63, they scored 326 points to 265. In '64, their total was 280 to the oppositions' 260. They hope to move up in '65.
