On July 16, 2022, fans in Los Angeles were cheering on the top prospect of their league rivals. Probably for the final time, too. Hassell got a hand from the Chavez Ravine crowd after singling up the middle to drive in a run at the futures contest, his first of what should be many road hits at the famed stadium.
Washington jumped at the chance after a Boston roster crunch made Jeter available. The "Derek" namesake, whose carrying tool is power, popped his first Major League home run off Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.
Drew charted a career-high on-base percentage in the high Minors in 2023 ahead of his late- August promotion to Washington. On September 13, he clubbed his first big-league homer against Pittsburgh.
