The following season with the same club, Fred was a 16 game winner as he struck out 185 batters in 217 innings.

At Kansas City on 7/21/08, Cabrera matched his personal single-game high with six runs batted in. He collected five hits on the day, including two doubles, and scored twice as Detroit rolled 19-4.
