The second leading scorer in the ABA last season, John was named to The Sporting News ABA All-Star team. He broke into the regular Pittsburgh lineup on 10-29-69. when he replaced an injured Tom Washington at Indiana. John responded with a 42 point, 12 rebound performance, hitting 15 of 23 shots from the floor. During that season, John made good on 47% of his field goal attempts & 82% of his field goal tries.



Despite an injury-abbreviated '00-01 season, Kenyon finished second in voting for NBA Rookie of the Year. Among frosh, he ranked first with 1.66 BPG, as well as second with 12.0 PPG and 7.4 RPG. "No rookie had a bigger impact on their team than Kenyon did," says Nets coach Byron Scott. Martin was named NBA Rookie of the Month in March, thanks in part to several spectacular dunks against the Grizzlies on March 20. "Did they make that Kenyon Martin poster already?" asked Vancouver's Kevin Edwards. Two days later, Kenyon broke his leg against Boston. Amazingly. he had to be persuaded to leave the game.
