Zachary D. Wheat, outfielder, was born in Hamilton, Mo., May 23, 1886. His first experience as a ball player was in 1906, when he secured a position with a semi-professional in Kansas City. The following year he became a Minor Leaguer at Shreveport, of the Texas League. At the close of the season he was sold to Mobile, where he remained until 1909, when he became a member of the Brooklyn team.



Jack came to the Braves in '52 after less than three years of Minor League Ball. Starting with Denver in '50 he hit .373 in 72 games and advanced to Atlanta in 1951 where he batted .334 and led the Southern Assn. in Doubles with 42. At Milwaukee (AA) in '52, Jack hit .356 in 57 contests and joined the Braves that season, appearing in 93 games.



One of the hustlingest players in baseball. "Country" just doesn't know how to let down. Batted .290 in 148 games in 1950 (tenth active season with the Cardinals). In 1949 Enos had one of his best seasons. His .336 average was third best in the League, and accounted for 34 doubles, 13 triples. 13 homers. He has been on 6 All-Star teams. Led Cardinals in runs batted in, 1946. In service 3 seasons.
