Juan was traded from the Reds to the Marlins on July 12, '02, then proceeded to set career highs in homers and RBI while tying his career best in hits. On September 24 at Montreal, he went 4-for-5 with two homers, 5 RBI and three runs scored. Juan hit three homers in the Southern League (AA) All-Star Game in '97, earning the game's MVP Award.
Francisco led NL shortstops in homers and RBI en route to an NL Silver Slugger Award in 2023. He's one of only five players at his position to amass at least 200 longballs, 250 doubles and 150 steals.
If there was a day Maikel went without playing Baseball growing up in the Dominican, he doesn't remember it. He spent countless hours honing his game with brothers and cousins in the sandlots, transforming into an elite power hitter. It all paid off in September 2014, when Franco debuted at the youngest Phillies position player in 14 years.
