In baseball since 1917. Most of Jimmy's playing career was spent in his home city with the Athletics. It was quite fitting that he should become the A's skipper when Connie Mack retired as manager after piloting the club for half a century. Jimmy managed White Sox, 1934-46.
A crafty veteran, Kenny topped the Redleg mound staff in Earned Run Average last season. In '40 and '41 he played for the Cubs and joined the Phillies in '43. After 4 years with Philadelphia he came to Cincy in '47 and in '49 won 18 games. His 17 wins against 13 losses made "Raffy" one of the N.L.'s top pitchers in '52.
Following a brief acclimation period to big-league pitching in 2022, Adley booked a .924 OPS and ripped 32 extra-base hits over a 60-game span beginning June 10. He also rated among the top five catchers in Baseball in pitch-framing and pop time. Not coincidentally, the Orioles went 38-22 during that stretch to surge into the thick of the AL Wild Card race.
