MY ADVICE TO YOUNGSTERS by Jim Brideweser. My advice to youngsters is to play baseball as much as possible and see as many games as you can, looking for playing techniques that will improve your baseball. Since a player's participation is limited, it never hurts to get an education so that you will have a job to fall back on when your playing days are over. In most cases, an education makes a better ball player.
One of the better southpaws in the National League, Ken had a remarkable season in 1967. He spent most of the year on active military duty, pitched only on weekends but still managed to post a perfect 9-0 record! Ken also had the distinction of winning the game which clinched third place for the Cubs.
Ken hurled a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on April 23, 1964, only to lose the game on two errors.
