The infield handyman, capable of playing three positions, had his peak year in the majors in 1965. A good gloveman, Al topped the Nebraska State League and the Sally League in assists in 1959 and 1961. The infielder is a top base-runner and loves to swipe an extra base.

Tex started in OB in 1937, and he reached majors in a Boston uniform at end of 1941 season. He was with Red Sox long enough to win five games and lose 3. The next season he had a 22-6 record and led AL pitchers in wins, innings pitched, 281, and tied for most strikeouts with 113. Last season his record was 3-1.
