The 2022 campaign will be De La Cruz's ninth as a pro, but he just turned 25. A trade from Houston to Miami last July unlocked opportunity and production, as he batted .296 with extra-base pop, plus defense and a double-plus arm.

Ronald put up history's first 40-home/70-steal season in 2023. Before him, the best longball total in a 70-swipe campaign was 28 (Rickey Henderson), and the most steals in a 40-HR year was 46 (Alex Rodriguez).

MY BIGGEST THRILL IN BASEBALL by Jim Greengrass. Next to getting into the big leagues, my biggest thrill was my first major league home run. It was in my fifth game, and was the first of a three game series with Brooklyn at Ebbets Field. Two were out when Bobby Adams singled. Then Bob Borkowski singled and went to second on a bad throw. "Big Klu" was intentionally passed to load the bases. I came up and hit the second pitch in the upper left field seats. My first home run in the majors was a grand slam.
