This 24-year old righthander appeared in just eleven ballgames for the White Sox last season. Yet, the rookie demonstrated that Mgr. Stanky could call on him with confidence. Fred has been used as a starter and reliever throughout his career. Still developing, Fred has a long major league potential.



Ed joined Washington from The Chicago White Sox in 1967. Nicknamed "The Streak" because of his blinding speed, this outfielder has led three leagues in stolen bases. At Clinton in 1963, he topped The Midwest League with 74 thefts. His 72 swipes in 1964 led the Carolina League and his 57 stolen bases in '66 was the best in The Pacific Coast League. In four minor league seasons, Ed has 230 stolen bases to his credit.



Cleveland pitcher, has been both a soldier and a marine. Fought in France during the World War. Born in McGregor, Tex., in 1899. He pitched for the high school and for Meridian College. He was quite a strikeout artist in those days. In one game he fanned 21 batters and in another he struck out 18. Last year Connally won eight games and lost six. He was used principally to save games when other pitchers were getting hit hard. He is a right-hander, five feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 176 pounds.
