As most collector's are aware, the 1909 Honus Wagner T206 was shortprinted as it was pulled from production early, resulting in its astronomical value.
"Zeke" Bonura, who acquired his nickname from the late Knute Rockne, who marvelled at Bonura's physique, started his professional baseball career with his home town team in 1929. He played with them until 1933, moving to Dallas and from there to the Chicago White Sox. Zeke played first base for the White Sox until the end of the 1937 season, failing to hit over .300 only one season. On March 18, 1938, Zeke was traded to the Washington Senators who in turn traded him to the New York Giants on December 11th for Tom Baker, Jimmy Carlin and cash. In 5 years of major-league baseball, Zeke Bonura has taken part in 666 games, getting 820 hits for an average of .311.
Had best major-league season with 1950 Cleveland Indians. Won 18, and lost 8, in 32 games for a percentage of .692, third best in League. Recorded an E.R.A. of 3.20 - tops in the League for pitchers with 10 or more complete games to their credit. Early's first full season in the majors was 1942. He was traded by the Senators to the Indians after the 1948 campaign. Had an 11-7 record in 1949.
