Al is another of the Cleveland sluggers who walked off with batting honors for the 1952 season. First, he tied a major league record by hitting 3 home runs in a game. In addition, he won the runs batted in crown with 105, led in total bases with 297 for 171 hits. Al hit his stride as a regular for the Indians in 1950, winning the home run title with 37.
In 1961, Billy was the National League Rookie of the Year. From that point on, he became one of the league's most feared batters. In 1965, Billy led Chicago with 34 home runs.
