"Few baseball stars get an opportunity to play for their home-town team in the Big League, but that is what Joe Vosmik is doing. Joe, you know, was born in Cleveland, 24 years ago, and first attracted attention on the sand lots there. He broke into the pro game with Frederick in the Blue Ridge League and after a year in Terre Haute won a place with the Indians. He is a six-footer, and weighs around 185 pounds. He bats and throws right-handed. Last year he hit .263 in 119 games, four of his hits being home runs."
