With the White Sox from '45 to '51, his best batting mark was .317 in '50. "Bake" led American League 3rd Basemen in Fielding in '49 with .978. That year, he tied a major league mark for 3rd Basemen by taking part in 3 double plays in 1 game. The Senators bought him in October, 1951.
