George showed what he could do with a full season of health in 2016, becoming one of the game's top combination power-defense right fielders. In June, he came up with two 11th inning walk-off hits.
Newt got his nickname because of his striking resemblance to Mickey Cochrane. He played his first pro ball game for Trenton in '41. During the war, Mickey was captured by the Germans and had to make a remarkable comeback in weight and health to resume his baseball career. The Giants brought him up for short time in '46 and after Mickey led the PCL in Assists at Seatle in '49, the Senators drafted him. He hit .287 in '50.
Edward M. Reulbach, pitcher, was born in Detroit, Mich., December 11, 1882. Reul- bach first gained prominence as a ball. player at Notre Dame, where he was pitcher and captain of the varsity nine in 1903. After finishing a year at Notre Dame, he went to Montpelier, Vt., and played under an assumed name. He joined the Chicago Cubs in June, 1905, and played with that team until August 5, 1913, when he was traded to Brooklyn.
