Jackie was traded to the Red Sox from the Senators in late 1953. With Washington in 1953 he was in 147 games and he batted .266. He had 32 doubles and he drove in 84 runs. An All- American football player at the University of California, Jackie made a 70 yard touchdown run in the 1949 Rose Bowl game. He was signed by Oakland and purchased by the Yankees with Billy Martin, in one of the Yanks' biggest rookie deals. Washington got him from New York.



Formerly a relief pitcher, "Sully" left the Red Sox bull pen last year to take over a starting role. It proved to be one of the most successful Boston experiments since the Tea Party! He led the Sox mound staff in almost every department including Most Shutouts (3) Most Complete Games (11) Best E.R.A. and Victories. Frank joined Boston late in '53 and earned 1 Win.



Dave was used mainly in relief by the Boston Braves in 1952. He appeared in 22 games, of which he started but 3. Worked 45 innings, giving up 38 hits. He won 1 and lost 1. He's only been in organized baseball since 1948. First came to the majors at the end of the 1950 season with Boston after compiling a 6-5 record for their Milwaukee team, then in the American Association.
