Owen was inducted into the Army at the end of the 1950 season in which he batted .237 in 119 games. Drove in 50 runs. Joined the Browns in the closing days of the 1949 season, appearing in 2 games. Began in organized baseball with Newark of the Ohio State League in 1944. Saw action with 7 different teams. These included Memphis, Raleigh, Elmira, Springfield.

Charles Wagner, infielder of the Boston American League team, was born in New Rochelle, N. Y., in 1883. He began playing baseball with the Murray Hills team. He went from the sand lots to the New York Giants. The Giants turned him over to Columbus, Ohio, and from there he went to Newark. The Boston club secured him from the Eastern League organization.
