Appearing in 54 games, Jim was the top man out of the bullpen for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. He paced the relief corps with 13 saves while posting eight victories in relief. Jim's big pitch is his excellent sinkerball.



The Giants and Dodgers both turned "The Scooter" down as 'too small' at tryouts before he caught the eye of a Yankee scout. In '50, Phil was named the Most Valuable Player in the American League and with Kansas City in '40, he was the Minor League Player of the Year.
