Dale caught the eye of a Pirate scout while playing High School ball in 1948, and two years later he played 53 games for the Pirates. He finished the 1950 season at Indianapolis and in '51 played for Hollywood and New Orleans. A fine fielder, he's bound to stick in the majors this year. His top batting mark is .291, at New Orleans in 1949.
Gerry Kenney: In 4 years in organized ball, Gerry has never hit less than 290! Gerry is the Yankees' regular center-fielder, with Mickey Mantle having retired and Joe Pepitone moving back to first base. On opening day, 1969, Gerry hit a home run vs. Washington. Len Boehmer: The righthanded-hitting infielder was originally in the Cincinnati Reds chain. A strong spring showing earned Len a spot on the Yankees' roster. He stands 6'1" and weighs 200 pounds.
One of the Tigers' "Bonus Babies," Reno saw action at 2nd, 3rd and Shortstop last season. Although he didn't play in many games, he gained valuable information about American League hurlers that will help him in the '55 season. Reno began playing ball when he was 13 on the Detroit sandlots and caught the eye of Tiger scouts with his great fielding and hitting.
