Facing the future World Series champion Braves on 7/11/21, Pablo became the only pitcher of the modern era to strike out the first nine batters of a game.
"Bump" began his professional baseball career with the Birmingham Club in 1926. He entered the majors in 1927 with the Washington Senators and is now with the New York Yankees.
"Rollie" Hemsley had no equal as a defensive catcher in 1940. The important cog in the Cleveland Indian machine caught 119 games for the Tribesmen and made only four errors all season. He averaged .994, topping all the regular backstops. At the bat, he collected 111 hits for an average of .267, bringing in 42 runs. A great handler of pitchers, Hemsley is nearly always behind the bat when the brilliant "Bob" Feller is on the mound.
