"Dolph" Camilli did not miss a single game with the Brooklyn Dodgers last year and there were only three others whose hits were timelier. Camilli finished fourth in the battle for the runs-batted-in crown, punching across 104 runs. He garnered 164 hits, 26 of which were home runs, 30 doubles and 12 triples, and topped that off with a nifty fielding average of .990, making 129 assists, more than any other first baseman. Camilli, who played eight years of minor league ball on the Pacific Coast before hitting the majors, came. to Brooklyn for $45,000 and players in 1938. He has driven in 100 or more runs in both his seasons with the Dodgers.
