Appeared in 96 games for Cards last season and had a .321 batting average. Ron spent three seasons in minors before coming to majors with Philadelphia Phillies in 1942. In 1944 he hit a home run in 15th inning of a game against Boston Braves to win longest 1-0 game in modern major league history decided by a homer. Traded to Cards in May of 1947.
"Dizzy" Trout was one of the most effective pitchers in the American League last year. His record shows nine victories and ten defeats, but he had an earned run average of only 3.61, placing him fourteenth among the league's pitchers in effectiveness - not a bad showing for a young man in his first full year in the majors. "Dizzy" came up from Beaumont in the Texas League after winning the league's most valuable player prize in 1938.
