One of the American league's outstanding sluggers in 1948 - finishing 15th with a .410 slugging mark. His batting average was only .273 - but drove in 82 runs. Played with White Sox in 1946 (hit .251) and with Cubs in 1943. Started 1946 season with Cubs but waived to Pale Hose.



One of the leading pitchers in the Giants' ascent to the National League throne. A right-hander, 6 ft. 1 in. tall and weighs around 195 pounds. Started professional career with Toledo in 1926. First went up to Giants in Fall of 1929. Spent the greater part of three years in the minors, but came back to New York club in 1932 and won a regular place. He has overcome his early tendency toward lack of control in pitching. Born in Lambertville, Mich., April 25, 1907.



Reno, signed at a $25,000 bonus by the Tigers last season, is making the jump to the Majors directly from the sandlots of Detroit. He batted .380 in the Detroit Amateur Baseball Federation in '53 and represented Michigan in the National All-Star game in New York. An excellent fielder, Reno was shifted from Shortstop to 2nd Base upon joining Detroit.
