Tall, bespectacled Earl spent two years in the minors, after which he joined the service. He spent three years in uniform on the roster of the Seattle club and played 103 games for them in 1946, his first season after being discharged from the service. He batted .285 for the year. The Braves brought him up for the 1947 season and he played 128 games, hit .281 and batted in 78 runs. He hit .253 for the 1948 pennant winners.
Because most of the cards in the 1909 T206 Set have more than one advertising back, the number for a master set would be in the thousands.
