One of baseball's most famous fireballers - holds the Major league all-time record for number of one-hit games pitched. Won 19 games last season, lost 15, struck out 164 batters and had an ERA of 3.57. (This was the first year since 1938 when he failed to win at least 20 games.) Has chalked up two other Major league high-marks - the single game strikeout record (18 vs. Detroit, 1938) and the season's strikeout record, 349 (1946).

After hitting .353 in 64 games for Denver in 1961, Dick was brought up for keeps by Detroit. In 1966, the hard-hitting Tiger led all A.L. shortstops with 23 home runs. Dick hit a home run in the 1968 World Series vs. Cards.

Hitting .297 on July 25, 2003, Marcus upped his average 23 points in five games. He went 5-for-5 in one of the contests and had four hits in three others! Giles had hit just .247 over his first two seasons ('01-02), but he altered his stroke for '03. His hot stick earned him an All-Starvinvitation.
