Obtained from the New York Mets organization, Bill will add southpaw strength to the Cincinnati bullpen. Back in 1959, Bill was voted the International League's No. 1 pitcher as he posted a 17-6 mark while compiling a 2.48 ERA. Elbow surgery has deprived him of his live fastball and Bill now relies heavily on his breaking pitches.
There were few outfielders defensively better than Harry Hooper. He played with the Boston Red Sox from 1909 through 1920, and with the Chicago White Sox from 1921 through 1925. His batting average of .281 belies his true batting power for he was a dangerous hitter at all times, getting a total of 2466 hits. Hooper was one of the fastest men in the league, stealing a total of 375 bases. He scored six runs in the five-game World Series of 1916. His lifetime fielding average over the 17 years was a brilliant .966.
Amed has flashed his upside with such seasons as 2019 (when he ripped 52 extra-base hits) and 2021 (when he succeeded on all 13 stolen base attempts). Between May 12, 2021, and April 10, 2022, he had more four-hit games (seven) than any other Major Leaguer.
