Ran into tough luck in 1951. Going good toward end of season when put out of action by a severe spike wound. Appeared, however, in a total of 28 games, winning 8 and losing 9. Pitched 168 innings. Struck out 65 batters, walked 55. Compiled earned run average of 3.48.



One of baseball's best sluggers, Yogi led the Yankees in Homers, Total Bases (263) and RBI's in 1953. He was 5th in the American League in Slugging with a rousing .523 average and hit .428 in the 1953 Series. In 1951, Yogi paced the New Yorkers to the Championship and was voted the American League's Most Valuable Player.



Ray was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 1949. That year he hit .306 and drove in 91 runs while playing 3rd Base and the outfield for the Browns. The sophomore jinx hit Roy in '50 and his average fell to .238. The Browns sent him down to San Antonio during the '51 season and he hit .297 in the Texas League. Roy works as an Inspector in an automobile plant during the winter.
