"Brooklyn paid $50,000. in cash and players for Lombardi after the close of the 1930 season, but he spent only one year with the Dodgers, being traded to Cincinnati the following year. Lombardi swings one of the heaviest bats in baseball. He is fi feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 195 pounds, batting and throwing right- handed. He is a catcher. Last year with Cincinnati, he batted .283 in 107 games. Lombardi broke into professional baseball with the Oakland Club of the Pacific Coast League in 1927."

Became a utility infielder for the Brooks on return. Traded to the Pirates. Given a regular berth by them in 1948. This was Stan's best season thus far. Hit .290 in 156 games. Traded to the St. Louis Cardinals at press time.
Returning to baseball in '53 after 2 years in the Army, Bob had a losing record for the first time in his career. Breaking into pro ball at Greenville in '48, he won 19 and lost 8, with a 3.01 ERA and 152 Strikeouts. Bob had a 17-6 mark at Davenport with 133 Strikeouts in '49. With New Orleans of the Southern Association in 1950, he posted 12 Wins and fanned 92.
