James P. Walsh, outfielder of the Philadelphia American League Club, was born at Conemaught, Ireland, on September 22, 1888. His professional career began with the Syracuse club, of the New York State League, in 1911. A year later he played with the Baltimore International League team, and came to the Philadelphia Americans in the fall of 19:2.
The best-fielding shortstop in the American League in 1951, Chico set a new Record, handling 297 chances without an error. He was also one of the two shortstops in the League to take part in a Triple Play. A native of Venezuela, he broke into organized ball with Fort Worth in 1949, hitting .315. The White Sox bought him in '50. In his first full year in the majors, he hit .282, batting .362 in night ball. Chico is related to Alex Carrasquel, a former Big Leaguer.
Seby was acquired in an offseason trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks and made his Seattle debut on 3/31/24. The veteran backstop posted two multi-hit outings in his first eight games, including a 3-for-4 effort with a double, two runs and an RBI on 4/21. Zavala's initial Mariners dinger on 5/12 traveled 357 feet before clearing the left-field wall.
