Name that player!

Sylvester Johnson has been a major leaguer since 1922 and today can still step in occasionally and pitch good ball. His duties with the Phillies are coaching and relief pitching and he does both well. Johnson, a smart hurler, has one of the best curve balls in the league and excellent control. Last year he appeared in 22 games, winning 8 and losing 8, and yielding only 15 bases on balls. In his career, during which he has played with Detroit, St. Louis, Cincinnati and the Phillies, he has close to a .500 pitching average, winning 110 and losing 115. He spends his off-seasons hunting, fishing and golfing.

The tallest man in Baseball, Gene rejoins the Braves after having had a brief trial in 1952. Last year he had a great season at Toledo, topping the American Association in SO's. 1951 was Gene's first year in pro ball. He won 20 and lost 4 for Hartford with an Earned Run Average of 1.92. For Milwaukee (American Association) in '52 he had an 11-4 mark.

Harry was the rookie of the year in 1952 with the Philadelphia Athletics. The Yankees acquired him from the A's in a big player deal early in 1954. He has been in pro ball since 1946. The Athletics got him from Buffalo in April of 1950. They thought enough of him to turn over three players and cash to the Bisons. In 1951 with Savannah of the Sally League he won 18 games and lost 14. He led the league in complete games and struck out 180.
