In 61 games in 1950, hitting .262. In organized ball since 1940. That year Bob hit .306 in 109 games for Jamestown in the Pennsylvania State League. In the service, 1942-1945, while on the roster of the Montreal Royals. With the Dodgers during the 1946 season. With St. Paul in 1947. Also most of 1948. Joined. Dodgers at the end of the season. Shuttled to the Cubs in a trade in 1949.
It's tough to try to break into a championship team in the big league. That's what Horace Ford was up against when he signed with the Red Sox in 1918. He didn't get a chance to play. Went back to Tufts College that Fall and graduated. Joined the Braves the next year and in 1920 won a place. Has played with Philadelphia, Brooklyn and Cincinnati and is now back with Boston. Ford is 36, five feet, 10 inches and weighs 165 pounds. Bats and throws right-handed. Last year hit .268 in 41 games.
Ed appeared in 39 games for the Boston Braves of 1952. His 23 hits were for a total of 31 bases, and he hit 2 home runs. He began in organized baseball in 1942 with Albany, then spent the next two years in service. Didn't get to the majors until 1951 with Boston. Appeared in 72 games for them that season, batting .282. Led Southern Association in putouts in 1950 with 707.
