Al goes into the 1969 campaign as the Mets' all-time winningest pitcher with 43 victories. He has 14 career shutouts and the distinction of tossing two one-hitters, both at the expense of Houston.
Houston acquired this flashy infielder from the California Angels' organization in November, 1967. Last season, Hector was the regular shortstop for the Astros and was named to the Topps Rookie All-Star Team.
After just 1 year in the minors, Tony stepped into the regular 1st Base spot for the Pirates. With Hutchinson of the Western Association in '51 he hit .282. Tony is a local High School product. He's one of the best natural-fielding first basemen to come along in a long time. His Fielding Average in '52 was just four percentage points under the League Leader.
